Do I need a registered electrician?
Yes. Electrical work should be handled by a qualified, insured and registered contractor.
Install a safe, tidy home EV charger with the right cable route, load assessment, and clear advice on getting set up for daily charging in Dublin homes and small businesses.
Ireland’s SEAI Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant supports up to €300 towards the purchase and installation of a home charger unit. The scheme requires a Safe Electric Registered Electrical Contractor and only supports smart chargers registered on SEAI’s Smart Charger Register. Do not start any work before the start date on your Letter of Offer; the offer is valid for 6 months.

After installation, you typically submit your Payment Request with your invoice, photos of the installed charge point, a Test Record Sheet, and Certificate Number 3. Your electrician must send a completed Certificate Number 3 to Safe Electric Ireland, and SEAI checks this before payment. If you live in an apartment or multi‑unit development, the grant route can differ—ask and we’ll explain the practical steps based on your parking and management company setup.
